Hello folks,

I was just wondering if the CA65 can record whilst playback. What I mean is, it has a two-track recorder right? So if you record the right hand first, is there a way to listen back to the right hand recording whilst you record your left hand?

My old Yamaha had this feature just wondering if Kawai CA65 has it too? I've looked in the manual but it doesn't say.

Any suggestions please?

Yes, this is indeed possible. From page 44 of the owner's manual:

Quote:
Each song consists of two separate tracks - referred to as ‘parts’ - that can be recorded and played back independently. This allows the left-hand part of a song to be recorded first on one track, and the right-hand part to be recorded later on the other track.

While the owner's manual does not specifically state that left hand part will playback while the right hand part is being recorded (or vice versa), it should become clear when recording either part separately.

Kind regards,
James

Thank you for the replies.

I've been trying this for sometime now. The right hand recording is always silent.

Is there a step by step guide on how to do it?

Thanks

kangolboy, may I ask you to elaborate on the solution?

Perhaps your experiences will help another CA65/CA95 user in the future...

James

Yeah, I hope it's clear enough.

When you select a track that you want to record on, go down and you will see part 1 and part 2.
To have the sound play back after recording part 1, make sure that you choose the option that is "1&2". If you select just part 1 and then go on to record part 2, part 1 won't be played back so make sure you pick "1&2".

Ah, that's right!

Thank you for highlighting this point - I think I may need to go back and update the explanation in the owner's manual.

Cheers,
James
