Bravo! Lately I rarely listen to any recording all the way through because my new computer's speakers are so terrible, and I haven't had a chance to get external speakers. But in this case I made an exception, and the playing was so good I forgot about the horrendous speaker tone.

Awesome. You make it sound so effortless. I have nothing constructive to say, other than that I enjoyed and was greatly inspired by your performance.

In a true 19th century style, I present one of the greatest Liszt players of the 20th and 21st centuries. He arpeggiates his chords, at will, just the way good old Franz did.

If you want to skip to La Campanella, it starts at 7:25.

What a lot of folks don't remember about these pieces is that they were piano transcriptions of violin works. And, they were written and performed by a man who, in terms of modern vernacular, "let it all hang out." That is the spirit this particular performer brings to these compositions.

I suppose it's pointless to ask why Mr. Podesta feels an obligation to hijack this thread!

What lack of consideration for the OP!

I agree. Especially without even a passing reference to having listened to Andy's recording.

And the comments, in this particular case, were way off. Not to perpetuate, but Wild rolled only one chord the entire piece. It seems odd to interject for the sake of one chord in an entire piece, without mentioning the original performance in the thread. And I also find it surprising that "most people" wouldn't know these were violin transcriptions, given the constant reminder in the title.

Andy, I don't remember if I commented earlier in the thread, but I did listen to your performance, and enjoyed it very much. Please continue to contribute! smile

It's been a long time since Podesta's listened to any of the recordings in the threads he's posted on, let alone posted anything remotely helpful on said threads.

You betchum believe I viewed and listened to his performance. That is why I posted what I did.

There are, with the exception of Erin and myself, many who post on this forum who espouse the Urtext world of note perfect pearly and refined playing. However, as shown by Mr. Wild, and those who came before him, this is not the style this piece was written in or performed.

The goal is supposed to be the production of great music akin to the way the piece was originally composed and played. It is not flawless technically perfect playing which is what the OP has presented.

You can certainly say that again, although the OP's playing is not without any flaws! I'll listen to Andy again before I listen to Earl.

I've come to loathe "La Campanella" over the years and thanks to Podesta I've begun to find the mere mention of Earl Wild's name to be quite irritating.
That said, Mr. Eggertsberger, fine job.

Andy, if you are following this thread since Podesta crashed the party with his non-sequitur, I hope you know that getting "fine job" from stores is very, very high praise, indeed! That means that stores listened to it, which is RARE, and that it was good enough to merit his attention, which is GOOD ON YOU, MATE!, and if it matters to you that a sensitive listener appreciates your playing, well, you've just been appreciated, big time!

Please share more of your performances as they become available!
