I thought I might give this a try, I've seen other people do fun little posts like this on here. So. I'll start this off. Pick your fav piano song. It can be from any Era, Any Genre, Any Piano! Just your favorite Piano song, and the Piano that was used! And yes, you may post links; I'll listen to virtually anything piano! Have fun, and good luck! Try and figure out what type of piano is used, and list it! My Example:
My Favorite Piano Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt0mg8Z09SY
Music Type: Boogie Woogie
Piano Type: Spinet
Make: Wurlitzer (It's okay if you don't know the exact maker, you can put Grand, Upright, Etc.)
Go right ahead, everyone! I'd LOVE to hear your piano music picks and types! laugh

Definitely my kind of music! smile

As far as guessing what kind of piano is used in the recording, I do not have a clue. Could have been one of many available in recording studios at the time.

With all the volume and reverb it is hard to focus in on the specific tone of the piano.

Great oldies R&R there! (And I love the photos of the old cars smile )

Rick

Thanks, rick. I agree-I LOVE the Oldies. I also agree with your statement. Without there being a Studio Picture(Such as the Sun Records One with the Spinet), it can be hard to tell. Of course, you just gotta have an ear for certain pianos!

Good guess, Rick...its a Roland RD700gx Stage piano.

And thanks for all your support! I was playing on the street at a festival last weekend, and wish you were there!

Greetings, all.

I have a 'name that piano' question. Should be easy for the experts (which I am not).

What piano is this Steinway artist on here?

http://www.whitehouse.gov/photos-and-vid...avid-and-burt-b

Thanks-

I can't tell you what type of piano that is....However. I liked your song. Nice job!
Key of G, 1-4-5 chord progression with some blues licks thrown in, Walking bass in the left hand....I also like how you rollick your hands and invert some of the chords.
Did I get that right? grin

Jerry Lee Lewis was a Boesendorfer artist until Fazioli started making pianos.

Actually, Sun Records Company used a 1950s Wurlitzer Model 2100 Spinet in their studio. It's still there today. Above it are several Jerry Lee Lewis Records, and a picture of himself. He actually used to put out his cigarette on one of the keys, and used it to record his songs. You really think the piano in Great Balls of fire sounds like a Professional grand? Dang, to the untrained spinet sound ear I could pass off my Wurli as a grand! grin Just Kiddin'.

Yup...good call!

BTW, that was an unrehearsed jam we did to warm up in the studio!

Sometimes magic happens!

Yeah! I play by ear, and I know the progressions. It can be FUN to improvise! Sometimes I 'grab a chord'; take the C, for example. Then I just start playing! (Of course, a 16 year old white kid playing boogie woogie instantly brings attention, which I hate.) I get nervous in front of people!
