The Tchaikovsky Themed Recital is due to take place April 15.

To preserve existing selections, always QUOTE from the latest list then, in any order:

-- Delete the initial "
"
-- Delete the final "
"
-- Add your name and the bold tags, "[b ]" and "[/b ]", around your chosen piece.

Then submit the new list.

Thanks, dire tonic.

I've an Excel spreadsheet that knocks out an update effortlessly. I'll resort to it periodically to clean up. smile

ooops, I did it the most complicated way. I made a copy of the list and pasted it into a word document for me to print and bring to my teacher. I copied and pasted the list to put in the new post too. Made too much out of something simple!!! Thanks for making it right!

So far the only Tschaikovsky I've played was a piano transcription of the Swan Lake theme. That's not exactly much, so learning a real piano piece by Tschaikovsky would be something new. A challenge.
I guess I'll wait a few weeks, and then see which pieces are still available.

I wouldn`t wait too long; some o` that stuff is hard! I only selected mine because it was very tuneful. But I seriously wonder if I`m up to it . . . !

I was surprised to find that much of the music I wasn't that thrilled about. But then again, Tchaikovsky is much more known for his orchestral music. Anyways, I'll give Op 2 No 1 a go.

Hm. I don't know any of the music laugh But there are certainly people here I want to listen to! This should be fun.

Well, "June" is back in the mix. It's beautiful, but the middle section has some chords that are stretching my right hand in a way that is hurting my wrist (arthritis/tendonitis). So I think I should set this piece aside for now.

Instead (for now) I'll try the Nocturne 10/1. I have a feeling it will be too challenging in the time given and I'll be back to pick out another one. But it will be fun to try. smile

Wow! - this is a bit like musical chairs. I'll drop August and take June from you Valencia. It's one of Tchaikovksy's undeniably prettier tunes and worth learning.

The Tchaikovsky Themed Recital is due to take place April 15.

In case you've just joined us and are thinking of taking part, you might have missed Wayne's list on the 'next themed recital' thread. If you click on the link in his post, you can sample 30 seconds of each of these pieces - really useful if you're not sure what to pick.

Valencia - I'm sure 'June' will get picked by someone else. Its such a beauty that I considered it for myself - especially as its one of the easier pieces.

Actually, Dipsy, you're right, it's not a difficult piece and I'm feeling guilty about snapping it up.....stand by for June to be liberated in the next post!!!! (I'm also feeling faintly ridiculous for having changed my mind so often, lol!)
