Didn't quite happen.

The melody is not rising as I would like and I still have a section that is quite weak in comparison to the rest. It tends to get very muddy, quickly.

It was revealing.

The good news is ... all my equipment is set up to keep trying through the week. This recording exercise is a very good discipline ... I wouldn't otherwise be nearly so fussy, and likely would have moved on long ago.

crazy bah
Bad time to have a new computer... no software installed, no hardware tested... nothing.
Time to start from scratch.
At least the piano still works without problems...

I know what ya mean! The recording shows up everything. I`m never gonna sound like Rubenstein . . . .I got two left hands at the moment . . .

Your playing is great and very accomplished in my books, Peter.

I remember listening to an interview with Oscar Peterson, where he was complaining of Arthritis in his hands that was affecting his playing. I couldn't help but thinking at the time ... I wouldn't mind a dose of that smile

Rubenstein? Heavens no. Just want to do the best I can at this point in my development. Happy to say that as of last evening I have a recording I can live with. Not to happy to say, I can now get back to some long neglected chores.

Could it be? Is this Halloween? Is the opening of the recital submission thread a mere hours (precise number of which to be kept a deep, dark secret) upon us?!??!

How's everybody doing? I just spent an hour of quality time with the Red Dot and got a take I'll feel okay submitting, but I never did schedule my tech, and I have the uncomfortable feeling the piano was annoyingly out of tune. I might try to get him in next week and then try again.

Wrong recital for that - Joplin recital in March next! Tough isn`t it?

I got one left over from last Christmas which wasn`t fit for submitting until it was too late. So I`ll be sending that in! Christmas comes early here . . .

Yep, me too. When the green flag goes down, I'll need directions on how to submit this.

Just wait a few more (precise number of which will be kept a deep and dark secret) hours. It should all be crystal clear. smile

Rerun

Usually a new thread will appear somewhere tomorrow with "recital is now open" or something similar. It will have a link with all instructions on how to submit.

If you have your mp3 ready for upload (max 10MB or so) then you're all set

I'll have a recording, but, as I usually do, it'll be closer to the 15th. i can play Yankee Doodle Boy in a way that makes people smile and tap their feet. But I'd rather have it a faster tempo. I've gotten used to medium tempos with a nice pulse, and I'd like to get past that habit.

I will be last minute this time - look for me down around the bottom of the list. The C# dorian mode is blowing my mind...

You're way ahead of me... slow tempos with no discernible pulse whatsoever. cry

Yes, making progress. This week teacher says it doesn't sound annoying anymore. Now it's just dragging. laugh

laugh Generally speaking, when I go too fast I lose the pulse - it's just a flurry of notes. No fun to dance to frown

I did chunk it today at a pretty good clip. But not yet a march. Sigh.

I dragged out the metronome (app) today, and couldn't stick to the beat accurately even at 15 bpm (60 clicks per minute, for 1/16 notes). The app calls this "Larghissimo". I'm feeling that "Lumaca Morta" might be more apropos.
