I am just starting to study modulation in my lessons. I would really like to find a good introductory Modulation 101/Modulation for Dummies to read. I would appreciate any recommendations.

This is the textbook I used during undergrad, which I thought was very useful and clear. It begins with intervals and how to build chords, and then goes through all kinds of modulations and other techniques, so I don't think it would be beginning at too high a level for you, but it would probably go deep enough to satisfy all your curiosities. I still reference it occasionally when I forget how to classify a chord (eg. German 6th vs. French 6th vs. Italian 6th).

I recommend "First Year Harmony" and "Second Year Harmony" by Dr. William Lovelock.

Joking... Yeah, in a way. But Franck was a big fan of repeated modulation. I remember accompanying a singer and a horn (my son) in a Franck piece and marveling at how he flitted rapidly from one key to the next. He just refused to stay put. smile

He was also reputed to have advised Debussy to modulate, which got a sharp response from Debussy about liking the key he had chosen.
