This topic has been posted before but I have not found what I am looking for within those threads.

MIDI Jazz Standard backing tracks which I can use with my ES7 digital piano allowing me to vary the volume, tempo, and minus one track.

I think ideally these backing tracks should only have BASS and PERCUSSION only.

I am beginning to think that the most efficient way I am going to get something like this will be to try to create them myself using band-in-a-box ... and just type in the chords and create a midi file.

I think that BIAB is the way to go - I can't say enough good things about this program - I use it all the time.

Seconded. Band in a box is pretty nifty.

Oh just one other thought - there are a lot of software programs out there that will slow things down, or speed them up and several that will change the pitch of a track, though I have not tried changing the key of a tune, the program I use, Transcribe!, lets me adjust the pitch so that notes are not in the cracks and let's me loop and change tempo etc. It also allows you to export your edited files as waves. So I can take an abersole track and pan left slow it down and export it as a wav then play along with that. I have done that with several tracks and it works. I would think transposing a song to a distant key will play havoc with the drums. But I would think a half step either way shouldn't do too much. I am going to try it when I get home.

Bottom Line - try transcribe - that and BIAB are my two favorite music programs.
