Note: The Enterprise doesn't directly support speeds above Warp 9. See Appendix C for installation of the optional SB-LS/P module (extra purchase necessary).

While on the topic, I tried to mention this in another thread but I am totally unable to understand how dp manufacturers can get away with not putting a simple lcd display and meaningful controls with the excuse of lower cost. I can have a usb stick android device with 1+ ghz processor and lots of ram, which has wireless and whatnot for 20-30 dollars. I can play 1080p videos, I can surf the web with it and post on pw if I wanted. Add another 100 dollars and you have a multi-touch capable capacitative touch screen tablet with 1080p resolution, millions of colors etc. This just doesn't make sense to me.

Do you think that they do this to with small LCDs/no buttons etc justify the more expensive models?

Pianos are the way they are for a bunch of reasons.

Before one muses on the buttons, displays, etc ... I think it would be instructive to learn a bit about manufacturing costs and marketing strategies.

MacMacMac,
Please tell us more. I am curious to know more about the reasons behind this.

Being businesses I have to assume that everything they do, however nutty it may seem to those on the outside who understand the underlying technologies, is an attempt to maximize profits. Having driven out the true believers, product feature teams are now running the asylum.

That's why the best DP's to own are those that are at least 12 yrs. old, like the Clavinova CLP-990M that I own, otherwise all other stuff is hype and bull.
