Hi everybody,

I've been working on these pieces and will be performing them soon. I recorded myself playing my Avantgrand N1, so apologies in advance for the key-clicking, and weird tone.

I think I have focus issues, so that is something I need to work on. But otherwise I think I'm on the right track.

I recorded the Ravel and Beethoven a few hours ago, and the Chopin was from a few weeks previous.

Beethoven - Piano Sonata op. 109

Ravel - Ondine

Chopin - Piano Sonata op. 58

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks for listening!

I can hardly believe you posted something by Chopin that has resulted in no comments, yet! crazy grin wink LOL!

Ondine sounded very good! I'd love to hear you play it on a big piano!

When you say you are performing these, soon, what do you mean by soon? Because, I would say, on the Beethoven, the first movement needs a little deeper exploration and perhaps you might benefit from "dry" practice. In other words, keep your foot off the pedal, and really focus on crisping up the articulation and note values. I mean, in practice, go overboard in a Mozart direction, then bring it back to Beethoven with what you've discovered in fire and emotion during "dry" practice, then add judicious use of the pedal. (I suspect the Avantgrand itself is not helping the situation! eek crazy smile ) I really enjoyed your playing of the second movement. (I think you did, too! grin ) By "focus" issues, do you mean things like paying attention to mapping out the drive to the destination through the second movement? It's a prodigious movement that does need to be carefully "directed" in its momentum to reach that profoundly meaningful conclusion.

Haven't listened to the Chopin, yet, but there are so many others who usually chime in on that, they can have a go...

Anyway, nice work! This has been on my "gotta listen" list since you first posted it, and I'm glad you posted it!!! Keep pressing in and pressing on! You've got great stuff!

Thanks for the comments Andy!

By focus issues, I mean I get tired while performing and make really silly mistakes... my mind starts to wonder and I make easy mistakes (like a wrong, slow chord in the second movement). This is one aspect of my playing which I need to really work on.

As for the first movement, I'll definitely take your comments into consideration! I haven't worked on the first movement as long as the others, and it is still elusive - one of the reasons why I'm taking this piece to a competition is for feedback. I love it, just I don't really feel like I understand it at all. I think it's one of my most elusive Beethoven Sonatas for me, musically.

I actually performed Ondine and the complete op 109 on Thursday (along with part of the Franck Violin sonata), and I'll post recordings of that later.

Thanks again for listenig! And thank goodness for not disturbing the Chopinists here..haha.
