I just registered here as there seems to be so much knowledge! And I don't have any! smile

I'm trying to purchase a very basic piano for my young daughter.
I have found what seems to be a nice value online. I will be going to view it on Friday.

I would LOVE to have some input on helpful questions to ask. I realize I'm taking a risk, but am hoping this turns out to be the appropriate cost / value for our situation.

All I know is that it's a Kimball Studio, approx 30 years old, Model number S433. Per the images, it's in beautiful exterior condition. They are asking 600$.

The questions I plan to ask or determine myself (by actually playing it) are:
1. Has it been regularly tuned?
2. Are there any notes that are sticking or troublesome (they don't play when you press them)?
3. Is the sound clear?

Does anyone have any insight about this model? And are there any other questions I should ask? Things I should examine?

And I did grow up playing, I have not played as an adult with any regularity. I have never purchased a piano.

Thank you so much for any information you can provide and any time you take to do so!!

If it passes your inspection-see if you can hire a piano technician to determine the mechanical condition.

If the piano is in excellent condition and you like it, the price you listed is in the reasonable range.

I'd also ask who the technician is that works on the piano. Then call that person and ask about the piano and its service history.
