Hi all,

It is snowing here in Philadelphia and I am feeling the Christmas spirit. I know we did this before, but it is the perfect day (at least for me) to see some Christmas piano pictures!

I will start this one off with an early 20th Century Cunningham upright - ready for a carol sing and hot cocoa.

What a beautiful photo. That old Cunningham is looking very handsome back there.

What a perfect picture for the month of December in the Piano World wall calendar 2015!

Definitely, there is something unique and special in vintage pianos.

Speaking of vintage uprights, is there a special name for the kind of woodwork(the raised design) on that piano above the music desk? It seems to be quite common on older uprights but almost never seen on contemporary pianos. Is the design carved separately and then glued to the piano?

Those are invariably applied ornaments. Some were carved by hand, some by machine, and some were molded from sawdust and glue.

GREAT picture, Diane! I used to sit for hours and play Christmas carols in our living room that looked much like this one - takes me back, for sure. Merry Christmas to all of you and those you love.

Nice pictures!
@Diana, I like the 6 pointed stars, is that the diafragma of the lens or just a photoshop effect?

Oh my, no star other than the "star" that lead the kings to find this Christ Child that was prophesied in the Holy Bible!

Okay, I just looked up "diafragma lens" and I see it's a camera focus. Oops! I apologize for miss read your question.

Anyways, I didn't actually take the picture. I just got it off the internet cause I thought it looked so pretty!

I will take a picture of my piano and my Christmas tree tonight. I am such a fan of Christmas lights. So here's another picture. I just enjoy lights sooooooo much!

And as you can see, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas outside too :-) (that's snow curling around under the roof overhang).

We had a little music/Christmas party. My wife got these little composer busts and dressed them up. Mozart obviously didn't like my playing - he's wearing earmuffs!
