A little something I cooked up yesterday afternoon. Tell me what you think. grin

I guess it's like something Godowsky would have done.

I entered this into milkytracker note by note. Used an organ sound.
This is dark! This will make the kids cry, and not wish for santa no more smile
It feels coherent despite all dissonance. The penultimate measure being diatonic tries to bring it into happiness again, but can't really wash away the darkness that lingers.
Interestingly I tried to soften it up by using some quarter tones, though I lack the full understanding of what scale each voice operates in, to really submerge in this piece.
Nice work!

Oh it's not that dark. I enjoyed this quite a bit. If I may make a few comments. You've voiced this for really big hands, starting with an octave and a fifth on the first chord. Of course one can break that, but you regularly go to an octave and a third. I have a good sized hand but this voicing will prove difficult for most pianists to play easily.

My second comment relates not to the music but the file format, bitmaps are data heavy. Wouldn't a .JPG would be much easier on computers and quicker to download?

So, again I liked the music and I've printed it out to better grock what you've done better over time. I've also been working on a few chromatic Christmas pieces (must be the season) and may post them in the near future.

Yes, I like it too smile
Below is a screenshot from the tracker program picturing the piece together with my detunings. E56 means downtune 50 cents. E5D means uptune 50 cents. E58 is around 30 cents.
Not sure I've got the voicings in the correct column, though it doesn't matter sound-wise, it matters if attempting further analysing.
The reason only sharps is used, is because the tracker has no enharmonic abilities.

Yes, it was really engineered to fit my hand. Think Rachmaninoff. grin

Of course, things can be broken.
