You're playing your holiday tunes for friends and family, so let's hear what you are playing for them.

This is not a recital, but rather just a place to casually post up what you are playing for others this holiday season.

Duplicate tunes are perfectly fine. Encouraged even to hear various versions of the same piece so please post up your holiday performances for others to enjoy.

I am taken by surprise by your challenge Mr SH. It could be the hot weather we have down under at the moment but I don't normally get into the festive spirit until the 21st December. Might just have to join in

Surprisingly easy, barely an inconvenience.

Holiday tunes? Christmas songs, you mean? Nothing else?

Let's get the ball rolling! This is from last night. Live performance. We don't really get to play Christmas tunes often or get to practice so it's messy. Mic placement is near Piano speakers so it's a bit unbalanced.

Christmas Time is Here (Vince Guaraldi)

Will record a solo piano tune today hopefully.

I will admit that I had no idea that this was a Christmas song until I looked into it. I've had a version of it on it on my Christmas playlist for years by this cat named Rick Modlin, and whenever it comes up I have to:

A) stop what I'm doing to listen to it, because it is just so good
B) remind myself to get it off of the playlist because it is not a Christmas song

Well, it turns out that it IS a famous and ancient Christmas song, and it has been covered by everyone from Linda Ronstadt to Sting.

Here is my contribution....

How nice to start the season with jazz smile Thanks, both of you. Great playing.

I love Christmas Time Is Here, it's just the right amount of mellow!

I am working on an "original" arrangement of the Carol of the Bells (in which the definition of original arrangement is I took two different versions, transposed one to be the right key, and then played mix and match with measures from each grin

Anyway, I'm hoping to get a recording of it, even if it's a not-so-great audio quality, because if I don't record it I won't remember how I played when the next Christmas comes around!

Christmas Song - Solo Piano
https://app.box.com/s/58ejxd9k1d3s2tzs813z

Just one take and improvised from a lead sheet...it's actually tougher to play these Christmas tunes because we don't get a chance to practice them much. Enjoy!

Beautiful performance Ken! And so well recorded. I can't seem to get a good recording from my piano. Maybe it's me. LOL. I certainly did not know this to be a Holiday tune, let alone a Christmas tune.

I LOVE it, jazzwee! What a great rendition of this! You are just smooth and right there with all the styling and "cool." And it's got such a nice movement to it - strolling along like Frank, or Bing, or somebody smile Such a laid-back "beat". You are great!

Thank you JW!

I love what you did with The Christmas Song. You made it sound so easy, but it had the tasty voicings, just the right amount of added intervals on the melody, and that Christmas ballad groove locked in. Awesome.

That was absolutely lovely, Jazzwee. So whimsical. I felt like I was sitting before a fireplace listening to you play. I was filled with nostalgia.

The other two jazz numbers by you and Ken were pretty, too.

Beautiful Dannac! A work of love here. All this is putting me in the Christmas spirit.
