Have a 1999 Clavinova CVP-109. Screen has went out. Informed by yamaha they only support and manufacture parts for all their digital keyboards for a period of 7 years. I informed them that I would have bought a new U3 for the price I paid for this keyboard in 1999. Anyway, part number is V3425200, any direction to take to find this part? Any ideas welcome.

I would recommend searching online for a service manual. You may need to pay a fee.

I'm not familiar with that Clavinova model, however it's possible that it shares the same part as other CVP models from the same generation, or even one or two generations after. If this is the case, it may be possible to simply swap the display for another part.

Best of luck!

Kind regards,
James

I have a service technician that has looked at the keyboard to repair but was informed by him that the part was no longer manufactured and has not been since 2006. Yamaha corporate was no help in finding part and will not talk on the phone. I guess the main thing is to get a list of repair techs or to see if a part can be found from those techs. I can supply model, serial and part number if you think there is any chance in Japan, or just web address of repair techs.

Blimey, I thought these beasts went on for ever . . what use is a CVP without the display? I wish you well. That model wouldn`t have been cheap when new.

Before replacing the display, just be sure that the fault lies there! The problem might be elsewhere.

Using a bright flashlight angled from the side, can you see if the screen is actually still trying to show information?

Screen is still lit, but totally blue, which is the normal background color, but now text is not visible. Screen has a contrast button which can cause this same effect, but adjusting this does not work. Will still pursue part and start looking into having screen repaired. Thanks for the idea.

Ah, I understand now. I thought the screen went dark.
