Absolutely not! This works completely on the honour system and we just report when we DON'T play.

And the more elaborate the confession, the better! wink

Please sign me up. I don't have a lot of vacations planned for this year so I'm hoping to get to it everyday. The only vacation I have planned is two weeks at Summerkeys ( a music program in Maine for adults) and I'll be practicing 3 hours or more a day there.

I'm in too. I expect business travels and vacation to Europe interrupting my piano study this year as well. Such is the fact of life. I just appreciate what I got and grateful for everything.

OK, I'm in.

Joining MOYD was suggested to me late in 2013 when I posted something about "How does everyone stay motivated"?

Let's ee how long I last. (I need to sneak over to the DP now and play something......)

Don't forget your detailed report of your playing each day. What you ate. Drank. How much sleep you had. All your physical problems. The weather, inside and out. How the maintenance man in the building is doing. How the condo association meeting went last night. If you do miss a day...whatever you do....be afraid...be very afraid. Beware the wrath of MOYD. smile

Meanwhile... Cas is having a nervous breakdown... MOYD is melting....melting....melting....OOOoooHHHhhhhoooooo!

Yes. I just played through some delightful bon-bons from Godowsky's Triakontameron. Now I'm going to have a go at reading some Mozart symphony transcriptions.

Please read the rules on the first page everyone!

Rules? What Rules?

As you see. I decided to go ahead and get the badge.
It's simply as my teacher said: It's so very important for beginners. Especially adult beginners. To play at least everyday. More often if possible. The amount of time is not important. The frequency is extremely important for a beginner.

Yes I understand this in training the nervous system. The base mind. It is very important.

So I add to the badges to try to get that through to the new beginners. To help them.

Yes, I promise Morodiene. If I miss a day. I'll dream up a whopper of a confession. (Thank God they're bringing the Titanic back up.)

Did somebody say something about Rules? ..... Doh!

Hello! Please sign me up!

I would like to have the fancy MOYD piano icon under my name with a string of consecutive years following it... but I have to earn them and today is day 1 of 2014! Only three hundred plus more days to go... yea! ((wide eyed))

Translation: I need accountability.

Thank you all!

Ron - as to your question "is truly something that displaying that badge does? For others? "...Well, I think it creates an awareness and perhaps makes folks curious as to what MOYD is about and may prompt them to try it.

Lots of participants don't put the badge in their signature. It's a personal choice. Others like the siggy bling smile

[/quote]

Yes, it does create awareness, that's how I found out about it and took the plunge. I am sure if I hadn't then many a time after an 'enforced break' I would not have carried on, and I was on the excused list quite a bit last year.

And I kinda like the 'bling' It is a personal choice since no-one else in my life knows about it, it's kind of a nice way to remind myself of having made it! Haven't quite figured out how to put mine up yet but will do. I see a set of instructions posted earlier.

There's lots of other 'bling things' people have posted in their signatures which I don't understand. Is there a list somewhere? Love to know what you are all up to with the pianos and martini glasses lined up!
