A very good thing to do. You can go and play to your heart's desire for an hour or even more if nobody waiting. With headphones, of course. They even have a second pair of headphones if 2 people are playing or learning.

I gave it a go while making time to go to the theatre, no need to be a member of the library.

It was donated by a local music shop (sorry I cannot remember the name because I'm not local, but I'll mention it next time I go and use it)

Maybe this is something that the digital piano makers could be doing to make their pianos more accesible? Specially those brands with not a particularly good distribution system...

By the way, a digital piano at Milton Keynes Library would be perfect, considering that it's the town of Kawai UK... (I cannot be more direct than this!!! grin )

Interesting. Was this in a particular place separated from the reading area of the library?
I spend hours reading at my local library, and I'd be very disturbed by the clunking of keys from a digital keyboard.
Otherwise an excellent addition to any library if in a dedicated, remote area.

It's in the music room. In this library there are separate rooms for different interests. But it's placed together with the book shelves, tables and chairs.

I paid attention to the noise from the keys and fortunately this model is quite quiet, I guess they made sure they put a quiet model there. I even asked a couple guys close to it and they said that it didn't disturb them. I didn't play any furious piece anyway.

Saying that, I got a couple of raised eyes when I played Granado's Oriental from Danzas Espanolas, but not in the bad way, more like a "what's that"?... maybe because he didn't recognise the piece from the keyboard noise. I played it right after Fur Elise, which everybody can recognise. Or maybe the noticed my many mistakes, I'm still learning this one grin He just listened for a few seconds and then went back to the pc.

In Milton Keynes Library now and then they organise meetings for poetry reading or other interests, right in the middle of it, no separations, and that is far more disturbing than a digital piano... specially when they clap!
