Trouble is, the current software is barely functional. On most forums, you make a bunch of posts, and it automatically "subscribes" you to those threads. Then when you check back later you click a "UserCP" (control panel) button, and it shows a list all your subscriptions with new/unread posts. So it's easy to keep track of conversations even if it's in some obscure subforum that you rarely check, or a busy subforum where you can't check all the topics.
How do you keep track with Pianoworld's current software? AFAIK there is no way. People muddle through, trawling each subforum and trying to remember which topics they posted to, and when they last checked them. I miss half the replies. A bunch of us in the Adult Beginner forum had a conversation going on learning Chopin's G minor Ballade, which is going to be a long-term project, but how are we notified when anyone reports their progress? The only way I can see is to manually make it a "Watched Topic", but the "Watch Lists" feature doesn't even show when there are new posts.
Another thing that other forums do is to show each topic with posts you haven't read in bold, with a button on each topic to skip to last unread, so it's easy to see when there's new stuff to read. Here, when you click on a topic it's supposed to take you to your last unread post, but just doesn't work most of the time.
When I log in to this forum from another device, it logs me out on my desktop, so I have to keep logging in and out on each device. And there is no mobile version of the site, so you're left looking at the "desktop" version on a tiny screen.
It may be possible to configure the current software so that it becomes useable. I would be fine with that. I don't know if it's possible or not; I just know that most other forums with different software are functional by default.
