Just got a new Yamaha Disklavier E3 series piano. Worked great for 1st 2 days and then today it stopped playing in the middle of a track with following message "KD/PD CONNECTION ERRO (Press STOP Key)"
I pressed the stop key. The message went away but no still no key movement or voice/music out of speakers.
Have turned power completely off several times but problem persists. Did I do something to cause this? Is there a quick remedy to fix problem, as I want to use piano before Monday Pacific time to contact Yamaha to find out what went wrong. Or even longer for the piano store's technician to come here.
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

I know that there is a reset sequence that you can use, but I do not know what it is. Check with the documentation that came with the piano.

Did try doing a reset to factory settings but that did not help.

Might be related to Key driver and Pedal driver but not completely sure. Unplug the power source and check ALL connections. I recently had a similar issue and found the pwr supply cord not completely seated in the socket. Also, when you do unplug it leave the power disconnected for at least 5 minutes or more. Error messages will remain within the system but will be dissolved (?) after the pwr has time to cycle out of voltage. Can you tell I'm not elec/tech savvy….. but give it a try.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. The manual does not even list the error message so that is no help. I disconnected the power plug from the surge protector and checked all the connections. None was loose. I reconnected the power this morning and got the same error message. So at this point I am assuming it must be a failed component in one of the control boxes. But if anyone else has any ideas, please let me know as I would still love to use it today and not have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to make contact with Yamaha technical support.

Thanks Dan but none of that helped. Guess I will have to wait until Yamaha gets involved.

From what I understand about those systems, if the recommended reset sequence fails likely there is a problem with the transponder or transmitter in the unit. If you are in Canada and need someone to consult you might try Paul Hansen at Lowrey's in Toronto.

Already checked all the cables and connections several times. Nothing is loose or damaged. At this point it is Yamaha's problem
My thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Call Yamaha 1-800-854-1569. When prompted, press the "2's" to get to acoustic/disklavier parts and support. Usually David Durben or Martin Arroyo can solve any issue you have.

Tech guy was here today and between him and Yamaha support it was determined that one of the boards is not working properly but they are not sure which one in the keyboard/pedal control. So 2 boards have been ordered and, hopefully, that will solve the problem.
Thanks everyone for your help. When it gets fixed I will let everyone know what the problem was, presuming the piano is fixed.

Yamaha is replacing the piano. They sent a total of 5 replacement boards and a cable and the technician spent hours trying to fix it but nothing worked, so they are replacing it. I will get the new piano on February 19th. It would have been delivered sooner but I m away traveling. Probably something weird caused the problem and replacing boards will not resolve it.
But I cannot say enough about Yamaha. They are fantastic! How many companies would be willing to replace such an expensive item without any hesitation or pressure. Kudos to them. This is the way every manufacturer should be in standing behind their products, doing the right thing and making sure their customers get what they paid for.
