Wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the digital pianos forum, but what I'm about to discuss, has to do with learning the piano, so here it is.

I recently found this MIDI notation software, and considering it's free, it's of pretty good quality. Also includes some of the more popular classical pieces, Canon, Moonlight Sonata 1st mv, and The Blue Danube, to name a few.

You can actually download the MIDIs for those, by downloading the source code, on the sourceforge.net page of the software. If you don't, they are embedded in the software, as sample songs.

Thanks for posting this.

The software seems like it could be quite useful if you use MIDI files.

I'm torn between paper sheets and notation programs. I find that I'm not as tempted to look at my hands, if I use midi to sheet software, because there is a lot of activity on the screen.

Strange however, when no two notation programs show the same MIDI file the same way. I have used Notation Composer quite a bit, but the people behind it seem to have some fetish for tied notes. This particular MIDI to sheet music software seems to put less emphasis on ties. Makes the sheet more readable, so I might use it somewhat.
