Has anybody ever heard of these please? A friend has been offered one at a "bargain" price. I suspect it might not be quite the bargain he is expecting!

It could well be a soviet era product.

Hi Philip,

I stared learning the piano on a used "Nocturne" upright which my dad bought me for my 9th birthday. The piano is still in my parents apartment. The dealer told my dad, it was made in Poland. Mine is a beautiful piano in walnut high polish with Louis XV kind of legs. My piano has a very bad action plus a very unique bright sound. The quality of the piano is no where near Yamaha uprights. please ask me if you have any specific questions.

I have worked on many Nocturno uprights. They are typical Soviet mass product. The only thing that can be good is the case, the rest of it is not good at all. But they are better than Chinese uprights from that era for sure.
