Any tips on getting rid of a piano?

Well I was certain we were going to be moving our Ellington Cincinnati Upright Grand piano across the country with us but the way things are working out I am more inclined now to try and get rid of it. I've been told it doesn't have any resale value, but it really is a decent piano and just needs to be tuned, in my opinion. It is so pretty that we like it for it's aesthetic appeal as well... Any tips on quickly getting rid of a piano (aside from tossing it over the balcony, which would ruin the property and the piano)? We are moving on Jan4th... I even have movers lined up for it, so even if there is somewhere I could have them take it? (I currently reside in South Orange County California)...

I have lots of friends in OC. Would you like to find someone who wants it for free or just the cost of moving it?

I second Craigslist if Melissa's suggestion doesn't work for you.

Melissa, that would be great! I figured I would try craigslist eventually, but just wanted to see what other options there may be first... Here\'s an image of the piano... We believe it was made between 1914-1918

You could also contact your local music school and ask if they have a family that would like to have the piano to enable them to take lessons, for the price of coming to get it. If the music school is a 501(c)(3) organization, you might be able to arrange it as a donation to the music school and get a tax deduction.

Todd, I'll email a couple friends. Could you send me your contact info either here, or by emailing me off list so if there's a response I can direct them to you?
