Hi Jazztpt,

Thanks for the nice words. It's especially nice to hear that I was able to inspire you to record. That's really great.
This is an awesome post, I like what your lh is doing a lot, you have very nice control of it.

Chris, nice post also, the contra points are nice. I can't wait to see what next week will be. We'll have to stretch oursleves a bit. I know I will :-)

Btw, Farnell (the organizer) says thta audio only is cool. I might still put a still image but he doesn't care. He says no musician left behind.

This group started very very fast, I think especially in university. I found several of the local musicians we find at jam sessions.

I think he might expand his thing into lessons, workshops etc.. in the future.

Thanks Knotty.
I like your walking style, groovy!
. . . stretching? well I might do some tenths next time . . . or split it with some ninths.

That FB page is so full of videos now that it crashes the Shockwave Plugin. The problem is that FB does Autoplay of the video. So I can't even look again at Knotty's video. Too far down.

Chris and Jazztpt, what wonderful performances.

Chris, some great sounding subs in there that just enhance the lines. And Jazztpt, your articulation is amazing. And really great way you integrate the LH.

Super posts! I hope you guys post more here as we always used to do.

Thanks for the info about the facebook page. I have a college class that meets once a week where the class basically does the same thing coupled with various concept discussions. The monsters - in both settings - are always fun to listen to (and there seems to be no shortage on the fb page).

If you can, post direct links to your playing next time as like JW said, the page is now so full I can't find either Chris.

Some live recordings from last night. I've been doing a lot of Trios now so I'm the only one soloing on these.

Oh, I can believe it! :-)

Here's my take of JF: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...o.558429457587216&type=2&theater

If the FB link doesn't work, here's the take on YT:

Great stuff Knotty, Chris and jazzpt.

Yours were all really different. I can relate to Chris' the most in terms of the unique fusion of space, Paul Bley-ness, and Evans-esque constructions.
Knotty, beautiful tone and your co-ordination is amazing.
Jazzpt, very nice groove.

Thanks for the YT links, this is a very interesting project.

Hey Chris, I'm starting to prefer trios. It's a whole different approach when you know you can stretch solos and the consequence is I start out with more space. I noticed that it sounds more like your trio recordings and how laid back you always start.

This JF one chorus thing is the opposite of that. No buildup. You've got to be in thick things immediately. I tried but it goes against the grain it seems, especially with a cold iRealB backing track. It would be good though with something pre-worked out.

hi jw,
you sound nice and relaxed. Very good.
I wouldn't use a backing track. And you definitely have time to work out a general shape. especially if it's a tune you haven't played in a while.
Overall, shorter is easier.
At least, that's what she said.

Thanks for your nice comments guys, I appreciate it.

Jazzwee - your trio is really getting it together. Particluartly impressed with Footprints, your solo really flows , great build up , tension and release and some tasty lines executed beautifully, outstanding.

Nice job Chris. Wish you would have finished it. Ran out of tape did you?

I wasn't going to post and prepare for a studio session Thursday night, but then I just couldn't resist...

So here's mine:

Cus - according to FB, you can see this even without an account ;-)

I forget . . or was it memory?:)

I wish too, took a chance before it ran out. Liked what I did . . . next time I promise to play all 23 bars.

You a have a nice two-handed thing going on, would have liked you to stay it that realm.

Hey Chris and Knotty
I am very much enjoying your one chorus stuff.

Chris, very cool Bach-like beginning and nice development.

Knotty, you're very melodic and I like how involved your LH was.
Yup, I could view it fine thanks. Beautiful FB profile pic, where was the concert ?

Thanks Cus.

That was at the beautiful State Department. Most beautiful room you can imagine. Kind of a bore to unload and pass security / demonstrations outside, but worth it.

I felt you left "your thing" when you started to play LH chords, I would have liked to hear you stay with the counter-point/walking bass all the time.
