Try the 6 Concert Etudes, Op. 28 by Dohnanyi. You could play as a set or as individuals. I love all of them but if you can only choose one number 6 in F minor has probably been played the most.

You can also check out Hindemith's Ubung in Drei Stucken (Study in 3 Pieces). I'm not sure if they strictly count as etudes, but they're certainly etudy, especially the second one.

How about these incredibly beautiful etudes by Bortkiewicz? These are a few personal favorites of mine. There are quite a few that are delightfully Scriabinesque. The Lyapunov TE's are pretty nice, though some are really tough. Blumenfeld etudes are hit or miss for me.

Ligeti etudes.

Stravinsky etudes won the Van Cliburn several years back.

Really? Or might it have been the way they were played?

Most likely a combination of both.

Szymanowski, Carlos Chavez, Vincent Persichetti, Moscheles, Clementi (there's some good stuff in Gradus), Busoni, and Friedman (among others I'm not thinking of off the top of my head) all wrote interesting etudes suitable for concerts.
