I am wondering why one sees Steinways on music videos, tv shows, and so many orchestras. Why are there no Mason & Hamlins on concert stages? Is there a musical reason? I would love to buy a recording of a deep and rich sounding Mason & Hamlin. Any suggestions?

I think it is Steinway's success at MARKETING more than any musical shortcoming of M & H's pianos.

This may not be a popular thought, but I would probably like a sampled M&H CC for my MIDI keyboard set-up.

The main reason is that there are not a lot of them. I suspect that there are less than 2000 that were ever made. Steinway has probably made more in the past 20 years.

I do not know about modern recordings, but Harold Bauer played Mason & Hamlin pianos.

I looked at a Mason-Hamlin CC (9 foot concert grand) from the early 1960's when I was shopping for my grand, and according to the serial number, it was one of less than 1600 made at that time if memory serves me. Since then I think there was a period when they made fewer and fewer of them. Now that the company is is new hands, they may be making a few but like someone else said, I think the marketing has not happened yet to get them "out there" in a big way. I have seen some YouTube videos of the new CCs and they seem wonderful. As an owner of the smaller BB, I also would delight in hearing recordings of good artists on CC's. If you hear of any, let us know.
