Can anyone having access to an old pre-1910 Mason & Hamlin CC or CC1 concert grand measure for me the width of the cheek blocks. I have a 1910 Conover 9 ft 4. Conover/Cable acquired M & H in 1904. Mine looks so close and sounds like a M & Hamlin. It would help to know the number of bass strings, mono, bicord and tricord too.

I WISH I had one. A pianist friend on the west coast has one, and playing hers was the inspiration for me to look into Masons when I was piano shopping. I just couldn't imagine a better sounding piano.

Mine, though, is a CC2 from 1928. Still great.

Do you know what year hers is from? I know of one from 1906.

It is from a similar vintage, 1908, 1911, something like that. It has the wide cheek blocks and wide tail. Was rebuilt in the past. She is a concert pianist and teacher, and still has it, I believe.

The only one I have ever seen/played was from about 1961 and even though it needed a lot of work, including new strings and most of the action (hammers, etc.) it still made a pretty impressive sound. I don't know the measurements, though. I was tempted, but couldn't afford all the work that it needed.
