Having been doing research to make my major purchase decision I came upon this forum and found it useful. Having up 'till now been the user of only one other forum (related to my life-consuming hobby of horses) I thought I should give this one a go.

I started lessons in the Autumn because we went to a lot of effort to bring my grandmothers piano across the oceans to Alberta...only for it to die at Christmas as a result of age and dehydration frown

The lessons had been to justify the piano - but now I have discovered that I enjoy it so much it is now my turn to invest in a piano for the family. I think my great grandparents bought the last one in circa 1880, so it had a good life!

So last week I made my decision and am awaiting the delivery of my new piano next week. smile Actually, it is new to me but is 1996 made.

I look forward to playing it, and perhaps learning and sharing in this forum.

Welcome!

And congratulations on your new piano! What is it?

You have two hobbies now, horses and piano? Do they like hearing piano?

Your first piano died because you had no humidifier?

Anyway, yes if it's from 1880 it might be better to get a new one anyway smile

Photos?

Thank you for your welcomes. The piano that will be entering my life is a 1996 Baldwin 5'8". Any other technical questions will have to wait until it has entered my home and I can peer into it to give you answers.

It's -21C plus windchill outside at the moment - way too cold for playing with horses. But I have no piano! So must waste time on the internet instead..
