Hello All,

New to the forum and to the piano. I've started lessons beginning of January as a complete beginner to piano. My teacher is using Alfred's All in One course and I'm at page 40 in book 1. I am pursuing piano to not only learn the instrument (love baroque and classical) but also learn sight reading, theory, and improve my composition abilities. I am a self taught guitar player that plays by ear and knows very little of theory.

Been reading through the forums and thought I'd say hello.

Guitar is where I learned about simple chords. If you`ve done the same, they`ll stand you in good stead along with whatever else comes your way! Have fun! There`s always a good argument to pitch in with on these forums. This one`s the friendliest. By far . . .

Welcome! I'm not sure how far you got on guitar, but don't be surprised if you know more theory than you think you do. You just might not know the names. The music came first, the way to describe it after. So you might find yourself saying "Oh, that's what that's called" quite often.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

It looks like I am just in time for the recital and I've submitted my first piece. It is one that I picked up outside of my lessons.

Unfortunately, my learning has been extremely piecemeal in regards to guitar. Some things are a bit familiar but not enough keep me from feeling like a complete and total beginner smile . My goals are to improve my overall musicianship through learning music theory and sight reading but also to learn the instrument itself. I love classical and baroque music and look forward to learning to play compositions from the great composers.
