Excellent! You're a champ, Sam. To all of you who work on the recital - thanks!

Thanks Sam, this is such a wonderful resource! I actually used it the other day to see how many times I had participated!

Hey Sam, is there any way to pull out some stats about the number of performers who ask for technical feedback versus those who specify "no technical feedback"?

ShiroKuro, very few people specify "no technical feedback". We have stats for recitals 10-33. 910 performances and only 66 said they wanted no technical feedback.

Wow, that's so interesting, that's not even 10 percent! Thanks for pulling those numbers out. I hadn't thought about it much before, but it came up briefly in the recital thread this time, and that's what got me wondering. I was also wondering what the various reasons were for the people who select "no" to technical feedback, and what other forumites think when they see that "no" there -- and then the degree to which there's a disconnect between people's reasons for choosing no, and other people's interpretations of why they chose no. These things can't be brought out in statistics of course but it's interesting to think about!

Thanks again for doing the recital index and all the related data stuff!!

I'll be honest and say I never even look at that. Nobody's complained I gave feedback when it wasn't requested so far ....

Just to be clear, it doesn't say "no feedback", it says "no technical feedback". As I said in the discussion room, I'm in a whole different space right after a recital than I am when I'm ready for a discussion of what I can do differently technically. So I do, in fact, have technical discussions with people, just not right after a recital or or a gig.

This was my first recital submission, and I was feeling pretty nervous submitting at all. Obviously I knew that I wasn't going to be subject to an onslaught of heavily critical comments, this is much too supportive a space. All the same, selecting "no technical feedback" was a way to ease my nerves. I don't think I'll feel the need to do it next time!
So that's one person's reason, I'm sure others have different reasons.

Actually, there isn't that much "technical" feedback, is there? A few folks will comment on the recording technology, but there are very few folks who feel able to provide suggestions on improving technique. I think that most of us feel we're still too new and finding our own way to be up to giving others input on what they could or should be trying/doing differently.

That's one of the reasons I'm particularly happy to have more senior players involved in the recitals. No one goes overboard on technical suggestions, but they do have something extra to offer based on their years of experience.

Thanks Sam for this recital index. I was amazed at the interesting statistics. I was able to print out all the pieces I have played. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
