I have choosen my piece for the EPP2. It will be Heller etude op 47 no 5.
Not a very long piece though, but I like it very much. And one or two old pieces to get comfy at a strange piano.

I booked my hotel today: Ibis Libertade.
Defining factors for this hotel were: - Close to the City center - I know what to expect from Ibis (and I have an Accorclub Card) - Not too expensive AND (last not least): - Relatively close to the Lisboa Plaza hotel (about 700 meters on foot, according to Google Maps). So I can meet those who stay there at the subway station.
My grand piano is a Yamaha C2 SG. My other Yamaha is an XMAX 300.

Well, I have about 400 words in Portugues.... most of them I can't imagine using! However, I can order a sandwich, chicken, a steak, juice, water, coffe or wine, and ask where the bathroom is. I think I'm good to go Paperclip -that's great that you know what you're playing ! Heller has some great pieces - I look forward to hearing yours! PatH - Glad you'll be near where we're staying! I am pretty sur Paperclip/Chris is close-by too. At the Lisboa Plaza we have SwissMS + hubby, Saranoya, me + hubby and Ganddalf. Torquenale + family are booked a little farther North from us - but not too far. Things are really coming together nicely! I haven't seen Allard or Wouter around in this thread lately...any updates from them? Carlos....you hinted that you may have found our venue.....are you keeping us in suspense ?

Ah, 400 words in portugues is fantastic, casinitaly! I'm learning 50-100 words portugues about food and drinks, so I could order from a non translated menu. But I will do so in english though. I would love to try a local dish like fried pig's ear, haha. Nice that we all stay in the same neighbourhood.

Hello everybody. patH, nice to know about your booking. IBIS Liberdade is fine! Cheryl - It's not confirmed yet. I'll announce it soon. I promise About 400 words??? Wow, you'll have to teach me some of them Chris, your post gave me an idea about the list of pieces we will play. We can do a kind of "EPP2004 program" with, at least, a piece for each member. Of course anyone can play more than one piece but it will be funny to have one or two pre-announced pieces for each one - like we do in ABF Recitals -. So, we have: EPP2014 programPaperClip/Chris - Etude op 47 no 5 (Stephen Heller), +2 CarlosCC - Time Lapse (Einaudi), Life (Einaudi), +n I have been very busy in my office, but from early March everything will return to normal. Have a nice week.

Carlos, I'm up over 500 words now Mind you some of them are not all that useful for our weekend get-together! Still, it is great fun. I hope we can try for a Skype chat when things calm down for you - this week and last were just tooooooooo busy for me too! I like the idea of a little program for the EPP - I'm aiming for the Clementi Sonatina I didn't have ready for the Feb recital as my main piece. I have also my Fughetta (Pachelbel) I'd like to play and perhaps Franck's "Plaintes d'une Poupée". Is anyone up for some duets? I have some fairly simple ones I used to play with my first teacher. EPP2014 programPaperClip/Chris - Etude op 47 no 5 (Stephen Heller), +2 CarlosCC - Time Lapse (Einaudi), Life (Einaudi), +n Casinitaly/Cheryl - Clementi Sonatina Op 36 N2. + 2? (willing to try duets - even sightreading)

500 words? wow! is this with the app? will certainly have to look into learning some myself. As for Skype, despite being given the details by Carlos I had roughly 1000+ Carlos results come back so I sure hope I have added the right one. (can just imagine trying to discuss things with a completely random person) I look forward to hearing all these pieces, and while I absolutely LOVE the idea of duets and have been talking to my teacher about them for some time, my reading ability is sorely lacking. It will be interesting to see what comes up at the EPP though, exciting. As for myself, I have yet to decide on anything to play as I am still learning some VERY basic pieces via sheets, never the less when the time comes I'll do my best to contribute something Still struggling to get all the documentation for the passport at the moment, but that should hopefully be sorted by the end of the month.

Notice: Skype use unique usernames. So if you add exactly my skype username you add me to your list. Of course there are lots of other combinations. I'll send a PM with my personal contacts to EPP2014 members

Hello! I've some good news. I want to announce the location of our EPP2014: "Duetos da Sé" - It's a restaurant/bar near the "Sé Catedral" and It has a lovely "C. Bechstein" piano. Why I choose this place: - I went there for dinner and I loved playing that piano, and the food is really good; - The piano is tuned every 15 days, just because this bar has a musical program with professional musicians playing for the public at weekends; - The location is near the cathedral inside "Alfama" district; - We'll have a buffet with typical food and wines; - It will be close to the public between 01:00PM - 06:30PM just for us - this was the tricky part -, so we've plenty of time to play and eat. About the price: The price depends on the menu and I'm waiting for that information soon, but I'm sure it isn't expensive because the manager is friend of a friend of mine Take a look: Site: http://www.duetosdase.com/site/?gtlang=enGoogle Maps: link

Thanks! I hope you like the location ... I tried to do my best My idea was to make a reservation as early as possible because there are many musicians who love to perform there. In any case, I will not stop looking for more locations... We never know if I find something better, right? But, at least, this one is ours And now, an update to our program: EPP2014 programPaperClip/Chris - Etude op 47 no 5 (Stephen Heller), +2 CarlosCC - Time Lapse (Einaudi), Life (Einaudi), +n Casinitaly/Cheryl - Sonatina Op 36 N2. (Clementi) + 2? (willing to try duets - even sightreading) Ganddalf/Inge S - A piece for me to play (Inge S) NOTICE: Put this thread in your "Watched topics" list. Don't miss any update of our EPP2014.

Hello EPP members! I'm going out for dinner with my wife at "Duetos da Sé" restaurant. I'm going to choose the menus to our buffet and talk with the manager about some details of our EPP... and, of course, to hear my wife's opinion about the location (let's see if I can get a successful approval ) Meanwhile, here is the updated list of participants: And the program is... More news soon!

An update about the " wife's test" My wife was a bit suspicious about the place but the friendliness of the owner was enough to leave her with a good impression. As she could see the space is very intimate, with mirrors, paintings hanging on the wall, and a floor lamp beside the piano. It looks like a living room of any ordinary house. We ate "cod fish with toasted bread" and "pork cheeks with mashed vegetables" and my wife was delighted with the quality of the food. The owner - also called Carlos - offered us a few slices of smoked ham and some other things. Everything was very good. So, we agreed that this is a nice location for us: it's inside a typical district of Lisbon, it's near the main Cathedral and the city center, the non-pianists can easily go for a walk, the room is large enough, the food is good, and the piano is "cool". About the price: The price depends on the menu chosen for the buffet, but I think it will be a maximum of 30/35€ per person. This value includes free access to the (tuned!) piano, the food, the drinks, and the rent of the space between 01PM and 06PM - we don't want strangers with us, right? -. Making some quick sums, I would say that a typical meal costs about 20/25€ person, so we will pay more 5/10€ for the piano and for the exclusivity of the restaurant. But don't take this information as a final price, because we are going to discuss the details and I think I'll manage to have a lower value. Btw. I've been doing some surveys in other locations and all prices are higher (mainly because we want to have the exclusivity of the space). Anyway, I'd love to hear what do you think about this range of values. Notice: These conditions apply to a minimum number of 20 guests... right now we have 18 guests confirmed (10+8), so we are almost reaching the "magic number". I don't know what's happening with Recaredo, Wouter D'hoye and Nikolas... Any news?

Count me in as for two persons. I will eat for two, I think. So it will be 19 persons who have confirmed until now. The restaurants looks very good to me. It's an opportunity for me to taste the qualities of the chef. I'm a apprentice in the kitchen and I would like to eat a lot, just to expand my reference of taste (good music, good people, new food, foreign country). I think it's worth the investment for me.

Sounds great!
Still need to get some more practicing in as I keep putting other things first, at this rate I won't have a piece to play (can't have that!)
On a side note, I have finally managed to get hold of the documents needed to apply for a passport, fingers crossed I'll have the application ready and sent shortly.
