Hi, I'm interested in buying this Yamaha upright. Here's the info I know to give you some clues: It's about 30 years. 56.5w X 41h x 24d Color: Wood Grain Seller can't find model or where it's made on the piano. Here're the photos. Photos here I've tried looking it up everywhere with no success. Could someone help? What model do you think this is and how much do you think it's worth? I'm buying it for my 5 years old son. Thank you very much. DK

Ask him to lift up the lid of the piano. The model and serial number should be there..

Reminds me of an old Yamaha model M2ER. Made in Japan. Discontinued in about 1987.

35 year old cosole yamaha being sold by a private seller.. Are you friends with the seller? Are they giving you a price for it? 35 years is a long time.. I know many people tend to think pianos last forever but that is unfortunately not the case. If the case was in excellen condition we would sell that piano for about 1300-1400 in our store. But that price would include delivery, bench, tuning, warranty etc... I would say you have $150 moving fee (min, probably more) it probably need a tuning and pitch raise along with some regulation, because i'm sure it hasnt been tuned for years, so thats about $160ish.. and you will need an aditional tuning within the next 2 months, $80 So were talkin 380ish cost just to get the piano moved tuned and re-tuned. If I were in your shoes I probably wouldnt pay any more than 500 bucks, 600 tops from a private seller. Cause then you've got nearly $900 in the thing with no guarantees. But yeah anything under 600 bucks, imo, you would come out alright. You've gotta think, in 15 years you have a FIFTY year old piano on your hands thats pretty well lived its musical life. Just some things to think about. But whatever you do GET THAT BOY PLAYIN SOME PIANO

Yamaha's are nice, safe "feeling" choices but there are many other options.
Personally, I would prefer going with a new Korean / Indonesian / Chinese piano before buying an old entry level yamaha.
Just as a "for instance" we sell a very nice Kohler & Campbell piano 42" console Ebony Polish for $1995. Includes everything, bench, tuning, deliver, 12 year warranty full trade up.
And the Kohler is not the only one out there that builds a quality instrument for under $2500 new.
I'm not saying don't buy a Yamaha, only suggesting other alternatives you were possibly unaware of.
Good luck!

This was an easy test. It is indeed an M2 and was produced in the late 70's thru the mid 80's. Very nice piano at that time and I would jump on it for $ 900 if I were you. Even if you have to have it refurbished, it is worth it.
Good find my friend!

I stand corrected, I thought this was one of their cheaper models.
It it a pretty piano. If you get a honey oak colored touch up pen you can at least color in the damaged side so that it doesn't stand out very much. AND you can use this as a negotiating tool to bargain a little better price.
Just a thought..

The chip in the veneer is nothing to get real excited about. Do as the man above this post said and live with it and love the piano. If a retailer gets hold of it, he will buy it for $900, polish it up, run a touch up on it and sell it for $ 2495! Grab it my friend.
Respectfully
