Welcome Kay - your first post in Piano World is to sign up for MOYD! That's a great start!

There's not much to it...the rules are on the first page of this thread, but basically all you have to do is get to the piano for at least a few minutes every day.

Saturday 22nd thro Tues 25th. Out of town on conference concerning arcane liquor laws in B.C.
Reward is concert Sat in Vancouver's Chan hall, for Beethoven's Pastoral, Mozart's 27th Piano concerto and Barber of Seville. For that I'll behave myself.

Cas, please put me on the excused list (Feb 16 - Feb 22). I went skiing with the family, we had great time (but no piano)!

I am a complete beginner here. I'm sure I will be needing a lot of help from those of you with the badges of previous years. I will commit to 30 minutes a day without fail. Although, I plan to get in much more than that every day. Thanks.

Welcome Brenda19605 - By all means aim for your 30 minutes (or more!) a day, and I wish you great success with it! Please note though, that for MOYD, even less is perfectly acceptable. I am writing this for you and anyone else who may not realize that even just a few minutes a day will hold your MOYD status.

I know we all want to get in as much as we can - but there are days when running through something simple is all we have time for...Mind you there are other days where we aren't in the mood, but sitting down to fulfill the MOYD requirement gets us to the bench and we get into the groove and have a great session. smile

Casinitaly, I have another hobby that I'm very dedicated too...bonsai. I take a week long workshop up in Portland Or 4x/yr. I'm leaving this wed. So I won't be able to practice while I'm gone, so do I loose my moyd status?

Yamaha P105, Ravenscroft275, Ivory II Am Concert D, Sennheiser HD650.

New sound setup: Midi out to macbook, FW 800 to Metric Halo LIO 8 DAC to HD650's. Very Nice.

Hi Chris, no you don't lose your status, you get put on the "Excused List".

What you do is : when you get back, post and tell me the dates on which you didn't play, then I move you to the excused list, with the missed dates beside your name.

For all the new comers, Chris included smile , do take a minute to read the first page of this thread. All the details on how to participate are set out point by point there smile

I was out of town and piano-less for 2/20,21,22. I beg to be excused for those days!

I like to join. If I join today to be a winner I need to do this a whole year straight? and if have at least how many number of 'nonexcused' days to get disqualified?

sorry if the answers are in this thread I just dont have time to read all 7 pages at the moment.

I will commit to 1 hour at least every day. Thank you.

Brian MOYD runs on the calendar year so even signing up now, your MOYD year ends on 31 Dec 2014.

There is no limit to excused days. We are here to motivate each other- The only thing that can keep you from getting your MOYD badge is to fall off the wagon and not get back on.

All the rules are on the FIRST PAGE of this thread.... I keep reminding everyone of that smile

You don't have to commit to any specific amount per day, you just have to get to the piano and play it.

Out of town on business, falling off the wagon again today and tomorrow, and maybe Friday because of last workday "Yeomen" performance.

It's been a rough February for my piano playing -- and in general! -- but I hope to be back in the swing by the weekend.

Hi there, I'd like to sign up for this, although I'm not really sure if I'll be able to keep myself honest about this, but at least it's worth a try!

I'm in, I dig the idea of being held accountable to anonymous people on the internet (Mind you NSA! This statement is reserved exclusively for this particular event, and by people with a shared interesting in playing the piano).
I was browsing this website months ago, came across this thread and was interested in participating. I tried signing up to the forums but my request wasn't checked or approved. I tried again and... you already know.
Let's do this people. :]
