Well, As I read somewhere that "wanting desperately to know to play that song" is a great motivator for the learning piano.
I want to play Waltz for Debby (Bill Evans). If there's an easy version to start with (one hand?) i'd like to try that. Does anyone have the notes?

Or should i not try this as a beginner at all?

thx all

here's an easy version but it will need two hands.

This would make a great study piece for anyone interested in chords currently suffering the pointless penury of cyclic exercises.

1) Just read the symbols and try and play them. Refer to a book of chords if necessary, working at your own pace.
2) Once you have some familiarity with the chords do the same thing while trying to introduce some voice leading by shifting inversions.

The SF College Jazz syllabus @ <http://fog.ccsf.cc.ca.us/~rmauleon/music_8A.html> has a lead sheet for Waltz for Debby & lots of other jazz tunes.
