SO, action was removed, SUCCESS! All dampers were unscathed and re-aligned to each of the string(s). But, I have two qualms.
1. My piano feels different in places. The touch seems...heavier, but no less responsive. In fact on some keys I now have greater control. I'm not sure how this could be. I swear, it's not my imagination, I've had this piano for a year and I know how it feels......
2. It sounds different. Less grimy. I know I shouldn't complain about this either, but I'm used to the dirty sound. Makes it sound more old Uprightish.

Any explanations to this? I know it's not me because my dad even commented on how it sounds better..... eek

Well....it's only because I've become accustomed to the tone.
It could just be me...but I honestly don't think so.

Oh well. I suppose it's for the better.

Did you get the pedals working?

I know it's not common for guys of your age, but this is a good time to listen to your dad!

Well, maybe you knocked some dust out of it or got some things aligned putting it back in that were not aligned before...

If taking the action out and putting it back in made an improvement, do it again and see if makes even more improvement. smile

(Just kidding... no I'm not smile )

speaking of us ol' fellas, we know that the best way to fix almost any mechaniacal object is to take it apart and put it back together again. For real difficult problems it's imperative to have a couple of your buds stand around, with beers in hand, commenting about how they would do it.

Speaking of which, I got up this morning, early, to go down by the beach and watch the storm surf with the missus and wouldn't you know it? The expensive 'lectric water boiler won't boil water. I forgot how to boil water on a stove so we got our coffees from the green monster and enjoyed ourselves pretty good down there but now I'm gonna need some of y'all boys to come over and stand around drinkin' ma beer so I can get'er up and boilin' agin.

Kurt
