I'm trying to adjust my touch curves to personal taste.
More at the bottom...

Only software I've seen so far that actually allows me to customize is pianoteq.

On my Ivory. I haven't seen where I can actually go in and form the curve the way I want it?

I"m waiting on the curves for Mac from Kawai. Would appreciate input on when this is actually coming out?

I"d like you to criticize my personal taste here...
On my old M8000. It was set very touchy at the light end. In other words if I were to look at the curve set by the M8000. The bottom end would be steep....then easing off and less incline going to the top after that. I took this as rather realistic. A real piano is very touchy at light touch? I got used to this. I wish I had it now.

As I explained previously, the approved touch curves are already inside the VPC1 and can be accessed by Mac and Windows users by selecting the relevant preset memory (as explained in the owner's manual).

The ability to adjust these touch curves and other settings requires the VPC Editor software, which should become available for Mac OS shortly (Musikmesse is next week...)

Kind regards,
James

You can customize a velocity curve in IVORY II by entering the SESSION area.

OHhhhhhhh dmd.... I know that. It's the lacking of customizing I'm having a problem with. On pianoteq, I can literally click on a point and move it in the curve. Don't see where I can do that in Ivory's curve? I'd rather have closer to what Ivory is calling a medium or maximum curve with the hard set to 100%. Still don't get it quite right though. Am thinking I would rather have something shaped more like an S....where it goes up, levels off, then up again.

What I'm sensing is a lack of difference from three p's (darn spell checker) to Mp. I feel like I too quickly go to Mp or Mf. To be more critical....sometimes feel like I'm going too quick from p to f. Not enough touch in between.

When I try to play both hands lightly. The bass walks all over the right hand. Can't get that left hand touch light enough. Then to try to make up.... I lose any kind of p in the right hand trying to stay on top of the left.

EDIT: My M8000 was doing this beautifully. And to put in a plug for Roland. My teacher's keyboard I translated to very closely and easily. She was always turning up the volume and saying I had great touch.

EDIT2: Just thought I'd mention something really nice I found about my VPC. I can lay sheet music on top of it and read it easily. Also the music stand. Like it's made for a computer screen right behind the music stand. Can see through the stand with no music on it. Or remove the stand easily. Still have that big wide top to lay sheet music on and can read it like that. I find the whole design very coordinated and works great. I even clip my mighty light on the computer screen to light up the sheet music on the stand or on top of the keyboard.

Won't your VST host give you a velocity adjustment? If not, isn't it available as a plug-in?

Mac... I haven't been using my Ivory in a host.
Out of other needs also. I downloaded the trial version of Reaper.
I'll keep trying things.

I do wonder if I'm overdoing the wanting more feel at lighter touch. From the little I have experienced. Also talk of others who went to AP after having only played a DP. I"m thinking I'm on the mark?

I thought you HAD to use Ivory in a host!? I have the old Ivory 1, and a host is required.

I take it that Ivory 2 has standalone capability?

Yup..... on Mac it does.
My experience with it on ms is that it always has to have a host. A simple host is included.

When I use it on Mac in a host. Interesting that it comes up and shows the exact same window that shows on stand alone. It just sits in the hosts window. Everything is always there in the window, Mac or ms, host or not.
