AKG K280 Parabolic. They are old and enormously huge, but I like their comfort and their sound. With retro-fitted velours pads they wear and sound even better than with the stock pleather.

Sennheiser HD595 in combination with my HP-505 pronouces too boomy the bass and lower mids. No idea if it is my DP which sends out the bass too strong, or if the headphones work them out too strong.
Well, they are still a different (much better) world in comparison to my mid class (40 to 70 EUR) mainstream headphones from the big Electronics/HiFi store around the corner.

I wouldn't recommend either of my full sized headphones that I use at home, so I won't - one is just too hard to drive, and the other is way outdated.

Greg.

After reading this thread, I realized I have a pair of these too that I bought a while back for use with an iPod touch. I never considered using these for the DP, but just got a 1/4" adapter and it makes a nice change, since I can hear the thuds of the keys while I play, and also hear the phone ring if I want to do that.

They're not going to replace my closed cans, but it's nice to have another sonic perspective.

Just as a bit of feedback to my opinion, specifically regarding the Philips headphones I mentioned. I tried to find out more information but apart from some older thread, elsewhere, there really wasn't much info.

So going off a reply I saw in another thread, I bought a Belkin adapter that was intended for iPhone usage with "normal" stereo headphones. So it's essentially a 3.5mm to 3.5mm adapter, but the male part of it is normal stereo type plug, rather than the additional pole the Philips headphones have on their jack, to cater for the mic that's part of the cable.

So when I plug those headphones into that adapter, then that adapter into the same 3.5mm->6.3mm adapter, then into my digital piano, the sound is perfect - and (as I'd experienced when using them on other devices) the sound is delightfully impressive for an inexpensive pair of headphones.

If I remove the new adapter from the mix, and just use the 3.5->6.3 adapter, the sound is all off again - so it's definitely something to do with generically using them with 6.3 adapters, and the iPhone adapter widget sorts out the compatibility issues.

Another vote for Sennheiser PX-100 II, they are so light and comfortable, it's like they're not even there. Very open too, they mix in the piano over the ambient noise so successfully, I've found myself reaching for the volume knob to turn it down thinking I'm disturbing the neighbours, only to realize I'm wearing headphones. Exactly what I want! But it depends on what the ambience is like I guess. They could have a longer and sturdier cord though, won't be surprised if they don't last very long. Probably a good idea not to fold them much.

If they're good enough for these guys, they might be worth considering smile
