Does anybody have experience of Kawai CL1 please?

I have an opportunity to buy one. It was made in 1983. I want a decent acoustic here, in China, as I can't get on with my digital.

In particular what is the build quality like? Is there anything my tech should be looking for when I get it examined?

Hmmm..

I am not familiar with this model. I don't think it was distributed in the USA, Philip.

Have you played the piano in question? What do you think of it as an instrument?

It seems very good. I have yet to have a tech look at it. At RMB16,600 it isn't cheap, but good quality used pianos here are not common.

It is either this one or a new, down market, local one for slightly less. I have only a couple more years to go on my contract so don't want to spend too much. Also I thought a used Kawai might sell better when I do leave.

I have decided to pull the trigger on it. I might spend a lot of time looking and still do no better. It is the equivalent of US$2,700 so it isn't a lot of money. If I make a fool of myself it might, at least, give somebody on the forum a laugh!

Pictures will follow once I have got it in place.
