Yep. Most of us already have the t-shirt.

Although you can always post elsewhere, and at any time.

The recital represents a point in time recording and we all understand that.

A best effort at this point in time will be better than a more refined recording posted elsewhere.

I think we all tend to worry too much about the flaws in our recordings. But most of the pieces presented here are not extremely frequently played, and most likely we know the pieces we studied ourselves far better than anybody else. Therefore any mistakes we do will be much more annoying for ourselves than for any listener to our performances.

Also it is unnecessary to draw the listeners' attention to one's own weaknesses. Many of us are amateurs and nobody should expect us to perform like master pianists. Still I look very much forward to listening to everyone's contributions.

Was thinking about re recording part of one of mine. Trouble is I spend too much time thinking . . too late now! Not long to go . . .

OK I must be mad because I can hear far too many mistakes in my recording but I have uploaded OP39 No 5 March of the Soldiers.

Only started it a few days ago and with family stuff wasn't sure I would manage to do it which is why I didn't commit earlier.

Good for you. You will be glad you did, I promise.

I'm a bit anxious about winding this thing up tonight. Although I've had a chance to download some programs I will need, I don't get a chance to see the instructions -- of what I will actually need to do -- until after the recital is closed.

However, feeling more confident as Monica will be lurking in the background and has kindly offered her assistance should I require it. But, I don't suggest you wait up. It could be a long night laugh .

I haven't been listening along the way. Just a quick 5-10 seconds or so to notify if issues. But, enough to know that we have a tremendously strong line up for what will be a really great show.

Alright! I submitted 2 of the 3 pieces. I am not sure what will happen with the 2nd movement but I think I can at least piece something together. There are some tricky spots that I just need more time to solidify, but I'm not sure I can get it all in one take. If anything, it will be an idea of how the piece goes, if not a great performance wink

Everyone's been coming out of the woodwork over the last two days! It's great to see a fuller rota.

When we listen to our recordings we hear all the differences between our performance and the ideal in the mind that we're trying to match. When we listen to other people's recording we hear the accuracy and expression in the notes we recognise and bypass the obvious mistakes.

It's not the quality that counts in these affairs, where we're recording to a deadline, it's the participation, the camaraderie and incentive to do our best in the time available.

We can't always put a face to the name but it's nice to at least put a sound to it to amplify our image of our fellow travellers.

Don't fret, Jeff, this thing will be worth the wait! I haven't heard any snippets other than my own but just a quick perusal of the entry list so far is enough to convince me of the pleasures ahead.

Wow! It's been fun to watch the spurt of nearly last minute submissions - the traditions of the ABF are hard to beat laugh

Looks like it will be enjoyable.

In the choir where I sing we have an important rule: Never mention to the audience mistakes done by yourself or by others in the choir during a concert.

I think it is wise to apply that rule for recitals like this one too. Flaws and mistakes that are not mentioned by the performer are likely to go undetected. But if the performer tells everybody that the recording is bad, that it contains lots of mistakes etc. then the chance is greater that the weaknesses are actually heard.

It is interesting to read the performers' comments, of course. But I like more to hear about what thoughts she or he has about the music, why the particular piece was chosen, to what extent has the performer developed her/his skills during the study and things like that. The fact that we had limited time to learn the pieces is something we all know. So, let us focus on our achievements, not our shortcomings.

Made it, hopefully not the last submittal. Once again, the recording process was a moment of truth and a learning experience. Thanks for starting this off last Oct., Richard.

Friday night, I was at the point of not wanting to hear the piece or mistakes in it again, but after taking 2 days off from it, it was enjoyable to play again, and mostly came together.

I look forward to listening to the recital tomorrow during work. It was once again very enjoyable listening to, learning, and playing a mostly unfamiliar composer's pieces.

Carlos, I can confirm that yours was not the last submission. smile

It took me a lot longer than I'd planned to both get an MP3 recording done and to figure out how to upload it. I hope it's in okay now.

My first piano recording... It's different when that red light is on, isn't it?

Ganddalf and Richard -- Thanks for the reminders! Most of us probably need to hear that from time to time.

yes indeed, ClsscLib. Appears you are the last one. With a 10 minute grace period in mind I will be closing the door momentarily.

See you all on the other side.
