I play piano for a living and was thinking about designing a useful app or web application to help people learn piano. Is anyone using apps currently for music and is there something they want developed that they can't seem to find online or in the app store/play store?

Is there something you are using now that you would like developed better?

Let me know! Also, you can send me a PM if you don't want to comment in the forums!

A good MIDI/notation app for learning to read notes faster. All of the programs I've tried are faulty. I like to have the waiting feature, song stops until you hit the right notes. I'm not fond of having a whole measure coloured in blue, it's better to have the notes themselves coloured.

MIDI Illustrator is quite close to what I want, but there is too much "visual noise" and the metronome is useless, or I don't know how to use it. If too much information is shown, it just makes things confusing. Sometimes less is more.

It's enough just to indicate on a virtual keyboard, which notes come next, but on MIDI Illustrator, the notes after that were also shown, in a different colour. It confused me and made me play the notes that weren't supposed to be played yet.

Last but not least, a performance evaluation system is important, showing what I did right and what wrong. I would however sacrifice that feature for a good notation system, especially to keep the cost down.

i'm really bad at trying to learn notation/ sight reading. all the free apps i've tried have not helped, so i don't want to spend money on one and waste it if it don't help. I'll have to look at the poster above's app to see if it's better...
i'm just dead on that side of my brain.

By the way, you can turn off future chords/notes in MIDI Illustrator, I was wrong about that in the first post.
