Hi, I am new to the forum. As you could probably see, I have a Feurich 133 Concert Upright. I love it, it has a very strong bass and a refined touch. Anyway, we are thinking of upgrading to a Feurich 178 grand piano. Does anyone have any extra information on this piano, if it is better than the 133 or not.(The Feurich website does not give much information)

Thanks.

Of course it's better! It is a considerably more substantial instrument. I find the action to be decent, the black keys are a little angular - a bit sharp on the edges for my liking. It has a powerful bass, fairly even response across the range, if a little nasal in tone. They are very well finished and presented. I think having a tech go through it and do a really good regulation and voicing and it's a very nice piano. Certainly more potential than the 133 - although that is a very nice upright too.

Check the Piano Buyer archives for a review of the 178.

I have one. It is branded "Wendl & Lung" however, the original brand name prior to the Feurich acquisition.

It is fantastic.

2 friends of mine have Steinway Model L's - same size. They prefer my piano, as do I - by a long shot.

I performed on one of their pianos last Sunday evening. It was, shall we say, "dead". Poor tone, poor touch, horrible pedal. Quite frankly I was shocked - and I assisted the owner in acquiring it by finding it at a local dealer and recommending it to him - it was priced quite nicely.

If I were you I would purchase the Feurich 178.

That is my opinion.
