I played on a digital for about 10 months before getting an acoustic. The switch was fairly easy. The only issue I have with my acoustic is trying to play softly, but that I believe has more to do with the 100 y.o. action on the piano, than any strangenesses with starting digital (I never changed the volume on my DP).

One thing I just wanted to comment on - my teacher has told me a few times that she can hear a difference (I believe an improvement) in my playing since I got the acoustic. And I'm very happy with it - I've played my digital maybe once in the last 3 months.

I started with acoustic and still play acoustic, but for practice, I primarily use the Yamaha digital with headphones. Going back and forth between them is a good way to build your ability to adapt to whatever you may have to play on elsewhere. As for the volume control on the digital, it's good to vary it a little. Set it a tad high to force yourself to develop a light touch, and set it a little low to force yourself to develop power. That way, one digital can give you a range of different touch responses.

Yeah I'm back, I bought an acoustic piano and the difference is huge. It was easy to get used to an acoustic piano in a few weeks. It has so much more dynamics and more to give than a digital piano. I Can't play too many hours since I live in an flat apartment, so only 2 hours a day. I started my piano lessons a week ago and I've got my first lesson and piano lessons are really worth it, she even gave me 30 minutes more than she should have.

You said you have over 100 year old piano, I think a piano tuner can make the action better, but it costs a fortune.
I've got a soft touch, but it's because I don't want to disturb my neighbours, so if you think of a scene of annoyed neighbours who will come to complain about racket you will learn to play softly the parts you want.
