Hi, people I'm a new member of the forums and a soon to be DP owner. But I'm not sure of what DP to buy. Although i don't have any piano lessons and I'm picking piano up more of as a hobby I care a lot about the sound quality of the piano and the action and dynamics of it. I don't want to spend too much on it yet i don't want to spend too little and have to upgrade it, it would likely be my piano for at least 5 years and i won't be able to upgrade it anytime soon.I think this few models are the ones I'm more happy with but I would like to hear more opinions and recommendations. Money is an issue to me too so i would like to hear more opinions on if it is worth the upgrade to a ES-7
Kawai ES-100 (1.6K SGD) Kawai ES-7 (3K SGD) Roland F-20 (1.1K SGD) Roland F-120 (1.6K SGD) Roland RD-301R (1.9K SGD)
Thank you for reading and helping. :>

I can only relate my own experience in this matter.
I went through a number (5-6) different digital pianos in a 3 year period in search for what I considered a satisfactory touch and sound. This included very expensive models which I will not mention at this time.
When I came to the Kawai ES7, I stopped. I had found what I was looking for and am still very happy with everything about it.
Good Luck
Don

Kawai ES7 IMO is the best choice from your list if you are planing to invest your money for a long term.

If you can swing the ES-7 financially, do so. You won't have to upgrade for quite a while.

If I just wanted a piano, I`d get the ES7 if it wasn`t so darned ugly . . a Roland DP 90 is pricey, but probably worth it for sound and looks . . .

Pete, how dare you say my baby is ugly! Plus, the DP90 looks like a keyboard stuck in a coffin.

OP, it depends how much money you want to spend. Out of the above, I would tend towards the F20 as offering the best value for money. It has the same Ivory feel G keyboard and excellent SuperNATURAL piano sounds as the others. The F120 just offers a better stand, and the RP-310R is kind of similar, but I found the stand to be insubstantial and wobbly. If you're looking at spending ES7-type sums, so long as you don't need portability, then I'd prefer the DP90 (which has better key action than the other Rolands mentioned).

The "girly" version (white) ain`t too bad . . . It's the same design as the black version, just in a different colour.

Why am I not surprised Indeed, this explains a lot... James x

There's a ROLAND HP-201 on sale for 600 SGD. Do you guys think it's more worth it as compared to the rest. If I'm not wrong it should be new but an old model.

My opinion for what it`s worth (lol) is this. If you gonna buy used, then wonderful bargains are to be had at the top end of the scale . . .recent models too. The worst ones to buy used are the stage ones/slabs which tend often to be overpriced without any guarantee that they haven`t been gigged. Enjoy looking around. Something really juicy could turn up . . .

I used to own one of those a few years back. I liked it. Considering that price, I think it would be a nice option for you to get started with. If you keep it looking nice you may get your money back for it a couple of years from now.

Since it's a 7 year old model, it's highly unlikely it's new. You can get the manual here: https://www.rolandus.com/support/owners_manuals/h-j . The fact they're calling it new would make me a bit suspicious.
