I wasn't quite sure which forum to post this matter in but would like to share some links about thoughts from physicist Matt Grayson concerning music recognition and the blog post which triggered his response by physicist Tommaso Dorigo who also plays the piano. While it is certain that Matt's paper challenges our comprehension and attention skills, he offers a selective but unique perspective on the opening sound of Chopin's G-minor Ballade. Personally, being very limited in understanding physics, I have to assume that his math and science statements are correct. I have been following Tommaso's blog since 2005 when he was part of a worldwide initiative to generate greater interest in physics with students and the general public.

This might be of interest in the Piano Tuner-Technicians Forum.
