One of the best afro-cuban groups around today, in my opinion, with an excellent keyboard play, is the Pedrito Martinez Group: http://pedritomartinezmusic.com/ If you get to New York, check if they are playing that night at Guantanamera; it's quite a treat.

Nice! Loved the solo. Especially the chromatic chord lick at the end.

Juan Luis Guerra is a fantastic artist - very poetic lyrics and usually he has a very nice band backing him up. Here's a cool song, great rhythm, beautiful chord changes and his trademark lyrics...

... and some dude on the internet showing you how to play it on the piano. Do you want to give your keyboard a real workout?

Another of my favorite songs - Juan Luis Guerra - , this is *salsa rosa*, ... the lyrics are astounding:

".... te mando la luz de mis ojos de un cuarto menguante, y un sol embriagada la eclipsa y no puede excusarse ...."

" I send you the light of my eyes from a waning moon; but a drunk sun eclipses it and cannot apologize ... What am I to do? Invent an alphabet in the clouds and conjugate us in the dawn?"

This guy shows you how to play some merengue sequences starting at 2:42 of the video. You don't need to understand Spanish to benefit from it, just listen, watch and imitate:
