Does anyone know if the tuning pins on these old uprights were tapered?

I tuned on last night. The pitch was all over the place and the pins were awfully loose, just barely tight enough to maybe tune. I decided to try tapping in a few and it worked far better than any other piano I have done it on. So I was wondering if the pins might be tapered on the 100 year old uprights. Anybody know?

No. Indications: You cannot have tapered pins with threads. If you loosen a tapered pin and pull on it, it will come out.

I thought the Bosendorfer pins were tapered...

The key phrase here should be 100 year old upright. There aren't many blocks in a piano this age that aren't going to exhibit said age eventually. The real question will end up being how much longer will the pins hold.
