Acoustic Samples just released a new piano sampled from a Yamaha C7.

If you read the page it also says that they use FLAC lossless format for the audio. I didn't know you could use that with UVI Workstation as I thought it might have it's own proprietary compression method.

It's reasonably priced and seems to have an agreeable tone. The Nocturne sounded narrower in timbre and dynamic range than I'd like to have heard but that might have been the playing.

No trial option, as usual. Who here is going to be the first to bite, if anyone?

Thank you for your demo, Superbaffone, very nice. The AS C7 Grand is down to 69 euros, summer sale. Quite tempting, but would like to hear more opinions. If it's good enough, the price is great, at least comparing it to Garritan's C7, going at $300.

Nice demo dude.. The piano sounds great. Always fond of Yamaha sound.

How's the playability of the library?.. Compared to Your Vintage D that is..

This is probably a silly question, but is there a built in metronome in UVI Workstation, or do I have to find some drum loops for that?

What are your thoughts, do you have a preference?

I've not listened closely to the whole demo but I have a strong preference for the few seconds of dulcet clarity of the vintage D at 2:55 when compared with the corresponding C7 spot at 3:16 which isn't so expressive. Are you using the una corda pedal at that point? - that would certainly give the Vintage D a timbre advantage since the C7 apparently doesn't have a una corda sample set.

the original file is recorded with vintage d.

I have not used the una corda pedal.

I love the vintage d for solo piano, but for live (duo or trio) I prefer the C7, it has a stronger attack and allows me to be more virtuous.

The vintage D is the clear winner for me in that case. I take your point about ensemble playing - quite a few pianists need a sound which asserts itself.

The Vintage D is richer, sweeter and better finished - smoother - than the C7. The C7 has a certain tangy sparkle to in, lacking in the Galaxy Vintage D. They are both very nice indeed. The playing is beautiful and the test is shrewdly put together. Very revealing.
