I'd appreciate knowing what to look for after the set up is complete and before the delivery men leave...

I would play each note and use the pedal to make such everything worked, and make sure there was no buzzing or anything.

What else?

(I could not find a thread or FAQ on this, so if someone could just direct me elsewhere, that would be great!)

You should check for dings and knicks in the cabinet. Also, once our guys delivered the piano and forgot to bring the music desk. The poor lady called me and asked "where do I place my music?" And then there was the time another lady called and said her piano was crooked. The drivers had put the legs on wrong.

Jordan Kitts drivers are among the best in the industry but even the best make mistakes.

If the drivers are polite, prompt and professional you may want to tip them as many drivers in the industry aren't paid all that well.

What's a good amount for the tip?

Oh, I don't know. Some would be happy with $10 for a nice lunch or a six pack of beer! If it's an extra difficult delivery where they have 3 flights of steps they may appreciate more.

When my grand came, I almost had a heart attack.. You might want to keep an aspirin handy if you are going to watch.

Give the main guy $20 for each man, ie $40 for a two man crew and $60 for three. Sometimes only the main guy is a professional and the others are street meat. He will know who deserves a share.

Tips are always appreciated. If you are having a very, very, expensive piano moved from one residence to another, like I have done a few times in the past. I always state to the crew." I can expect no dings or scratches, and you guys can expect an extra $150 under the table for a job well done". I have never had a problem wih any sort of damage to date.

For special service or special hazards dealt with by the movers a special tip is warranted.

No stairs or difficulties -- but I will tip anyway!

I am sort of surprised there is not a FAQ thread on this (unless I missed it) -- so perhaps everyone should chime in and Frank might think it a good FAQ.
