Some thoughts about the "program".
The program appears because I started to take note of the pieces that we were talking in several occasions here in PW (ABF recitals, AOTW, PMs, etc). There is no obligation to enter a piece in the list, or to play a "mandatory" piece just because it's on the program, or, to play ONLY the pieces you have announced. This is only a list to share our thoughts about what we want to play and to help to understand the musical style of each one. Nothing more.
We all have an idea of what we want to play in Lisbon. So, if you want to share your idea, I'll put it on the list. If you don't, that's OK, too. thumb

About the format, I think the best rule is: "there is no rules" smile
We have a piano just for us, and an unique audience, so let's play!
The only concern is to give the same opportunity to all the members, I mean, if you notice that I'm getting "lost" with my Einaudis, please tear me from the front of the piano, OK? - beware about my memory! - smile

Now seriously, if we have to have a "guide" I think the EPP2013 model is fine.

Have a nice weekend!

To be honest, I'm still not 100% set on what I am even going to play frown so I'm kind of hoping that people are willing to improvise and just "go with the flow".

Since I play mostly by ear, something could just spark some inspiration and all sorts of fun could be had... that goes for anyone I guess .

UKIkarus go with the flow is fine. I don't know how much improv others can do, - my own abilities are rather weak in that area - but it will be fun to see what happens!

Improvisation...? Well, that's quite challenging!
With so many - and so good! - pianists at the party, I'm sure that something will happen. And I'll be there to watch! Hahaha

Oh, haha yeah sorry... my improvisational skills are very very lacking! I was simply trying to say that I'm hoping when we all play, it doesn't turn out too strict and rather more relaxed smile as in I hope myself and others are willing to give new things a try and simply enjoy the time spent no matter what happens.

Having never seen anyone who plays any form of instrument around here (apart from my teacher) the idea of meeting a group of like minded folks is VERY exciting!

Preference towards a less structured approach, sounds great. I think we will all naturally save our presentation piece as our Ace in the Pocket for when everyone is well settled in and feeling comfortable in presenting it and allow things to naturally develop.

Please excuse my anxiousness. This will be the largest audience I have played for since ... well ... ever laugh . Of course, I've read all about LIVE performance anxiety, but have never experienced it.

Bring it on ... I've got some stuff I'd really like to share ... provided I don't freeze ... smile

Hi people.

It's been a while since I checked in here. But I wanted to let you all know I won't be able to make it. My employer needs me elsewhere that time. Part of the job. I hope you all have a great time. Maybe I'll make it next year.

have fun.

Wouter - sorry you won't be able to attend - let's hope for next year!!

UKIkarus - it IS exciting to hook up with like minded people!!!

Greener: It is rather nerve wracking -- -but as we say for the recitals, you couldn't possibly find a more supportive audience -ever!

Last year I felt really disappointed with my performance at the party - this year I think I am better prepared both in terms of my musical skills and emotionally.

I am SO up about this event!!! woohoo!

I love keeping up on all the plans for the EPP and I know you'll have a great time. Looking forward to reading all about it and I hope to see pictures.

Carlos you have the makings of a good travel agent, wish I could be there with everyone. Maybe next time.

Bet everyone is counting the days, EPP is just around the corner.

UKIkarus and Greener, the party is very relaxed and everybody is happy to see each other. The party has less structure and is less formal about when and what to play then the recitals my teacher has.

Wouter, too bad you can't come. Next year it will be Italy, I think.

Musdan, yes we will make a lot of photo's. And of course some video's (if it's allowed by the player, because it adds to the nerves).

One month to go!

@musdan - It's really a pleasure to organize a party like this. Thanks.

I invited two more friends to our party.
- One of them was an amateur pianist but I think she doesn't want to play with us - she quit playing a few years ago -. She loves music and she knows how hard is to master a piano.

- The other one is not a pianist but he's a great amateur photographer - mainly doing pictures of nature and wildlife animals -. He loves piano and Bach - Greener, where are you? -. Some time ago, he asked my permission to put one of my pieces as the background music of one of his gallery slideshows. I was very proud... smile

My problem is not find people to invite... my problem is to find the right people to invite smile

You know, I don't want to call everybody I know just to fill in the number of guests. I want someone who can really enjoy our party; Don't worry, I've a couple of candidates thumb

Performance anxiety for the moment is low, I've just survived the recital and I'm sure the audience at EPP will be really supportive.
What bothers me a bit is... my English sucks blush. Really.

I need to practise a bit but in these weeks I'm much busier than expected and always tired...

Don't feel bad, torquenale. I doubt your English is as bad as my Portuguese and Italian.

The good news is we all understand and will relate with music smile

I leave you some challenges: grin

1-"Eu falo tão mal inglês, como eu leio pautas."

2-"O meu inglês é mau, mas a minha mulher consegue falar francês."

3--"Estou desejo de te conhecer e ouvir tocar piano!"

4-"Parabéns! Se conseguiste ler estas frases, então o teu português é melhor que o meu inglês."

Hi EPP2014 group!
I invited another friend of mine!
He is journalist and DJ, and he has an incredible positive energy which was very important in some (bad) phases of my life. He's my friend for more that 25 years and I just had his confirmation now.
You may think a DJ won't enjoy piano music, but you're wrong. He loves the sound of a piano.

So, here it is the updated list:

This is Terrific news, Carlos. It will be nice to meet your friends. Excellent work.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1-"Eu falo tão mal inglês, como eu leio pautas."
If the Itinerary/Agenda for the EPP is in English, just come to me for any help you may need.
2-"O meu inglês é mau, mas a minha mulher consegue falar francês."
I very much am looking forward to meeting you both. Sinto muito, eu não falo qualquer português ou francês.
3--"Estou desejo de te conhecer e ouvir tocar piano!"
Me too. This will be great.
4-"Parabéns! Se conseguiste ler estas frases, então o teu português é melhor que o meu inglês."
Obrigado, Carlos. There is no fear of that though. With more time I would have studied harder. For this exercise, I cheated ... grin. Technology of course, is a wonderful thing.
I took conversational Spanish following a trip to Cuba many years ago. I think this may help me a wee bit. It is similar in some respects, yes?
