I have several recordings that I made on an old Disklavier. These are currently stored on 3.5 Floppy disk. I no longer have the Disklavier and would like to know how to access these files. I have had no luck as they cant be read by my PC. I hope to convert them to a PianoDisc format. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have an old Amiga 2000 (Motorola 68000).
It used its own format 880K byte discs and to read 720K byte IBM compatible discs we had special device drivers.
Relatively simple, 11 vs 9 sectors.
I can probably resurrect that - Ooops, just saw your location.

NOW - I suggest you try to find a local Amiga group and see if anyone there can help you.
As I started to say, with drivers the Amiga could read just about any physical format of 3 1/2 inch floppies.

EDIT:
I just looked it up; according to Yamaha they were standard 720K discs, so you SHOULD be able to read them with any old 3 1/2 floppy drive. USB floppy drives are about $20 in USA.
:END EDIT

Thanks for your great reply.

As I am not the greatest computer aficionado, can you please clarify that I need a special Floppy drive (Amiga 2000 ) and not the standard one I have in my PC combined with special drivers..?

Cheers,

Carlspost

I've written two Windows utilities that may help. To extract files from your Disklavier floppies, you can use PPFBU and to convert the performances to PianoDisc format, you can use MID2PianoCD. You may not actually need PPFBU unless the Disklavier diskettes were made by Yamaha. User-created diskettes should be directly readable by Windows.
