#2294342 - 06/24/14 01:41 PM Clavinova CLP470 - setting the defaults

I'm guessing this may not be possible, as I've gone through the user manual to find out if it can be done, but perhaps someone may know otherwise and give me the pointers I'm looking for.

When the Clavinova 'wakes up', it defaults to the voice 'Grand Piano 1'. I'd like it to wake up as 'Grand Piano 2'. Likewise, I'd like to change the defaults for the 'Reverb' and 'Touch' settings. Only the 'Brilliance' setting seems to be retained after switching off.

I realise these are just a button push away anyway, but it seems such a technically trivial thing to implement, that I wonder if there really is a way to do this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Purkoy, I believe there should be a 'User Memory' (or similarly named) function that stores the currently selected settings and recalls them automatically when the instrument is turned on.

EDIT: The function is referred to as 'Backup', and explained on page 59 of the owner's manual.

Kind regards,
James

Thank you James, you have solved my problem. It now works the way I wanted it to.

I see too that what I'd wanted was supposed to be the default setting anyway ; so, somewhat embarrassingly, I guess this means I must have inadvertantly knocked it off the default when trying out all the buttons when the Clavinova first arrived!

Thanks again, I appreciate the help greatly.

It hopefully works a little better than my CLP-340 as for some settings it only remembers the powered down state. Hence, if I like the touch to hard, but for some reason it is on medium when I turn it off, when it turns on, it is medium. Like you, yes, it is only a button and a few clicks away to change, but it makes things a little easier to just turn it on and have it set the way you like it from the get go.

You're right, the CLP470 also just remembers the state at switch-off, and though it's good enough for me as I rarely change the settings once I've got them the way I want, I can see it could have been a little more configurable than it is. Still, I can forgive it that as it's such a step up when playing from my predecessor DP!
