Everybody here is eligible to enter! Who's going first?

Here are the details:
Quote:

Compete this summer for your chance to win automatic entry into the seventh International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs™ to be held in the summer of 2016, on the campus of TCU.

Beginning July 15, the Amateur Piano Video Contest will be open to all amateur pianists age 35 and older (on or before July 31, 2014), who do not derive their primary source of income from the playing, teaching, or composing of piano music.

To enter, simply upload your best performance video of 5–10 minutes in length via the Cliburn's Facebook page or the video contest portal on Cliburn.org.

The winner will be determined by public voting online.

The entire contest is voted on by the public? Is this new? In the documentary* I watched it was a panel of qualified judges.

*"They Came to Play" An excellent documentary about the 2007 Van Cliburn. Unfortunately it's now washed off the streaming service to make room for yet another quality reality show about a dysfunctional family who makes custom closets for cats. The V.C. doc. is still available by mail on disc.

The video contest is just for one person to get into the competition, bypassing the audition process. It's just fluff, really, intended to generate some interest. The actual competition has judges.

I was just joking about entering, of course. A very high level of performance ability is needed for the Cliburn Amateur. There are some PW members who have competed, but not me...

I won't mention it to my teacher. She says things like, "Oh, you should try."

I say, "Have you seen the players?!"

"They aren't so great, you would be OK ..."

Umm, yes they are and no I wouldn't. Love her misplaced confidence in me!
